Each year Fernview Cottage contributes to many charities
& fundraisers, either by quilting vouchers, free/discounted quilting
or donating finished quilts.
2009On 7th February devastating bushfires hit much of Victoria. That night I started making quilts for familes who lost their homes, as days went on it was apparent how many families where affected. I then started a Bushfire Quilt Drive see the link below for more information.

2008In July this year a
local lady, lost her life after the injuries she received falling off her
roof. The Monbulk community have rallied behind her 16 & 18 yr old
sons organising various fundraisers to make sure they are able to continue
their education as well as stay in the family home. Fernview Cottage
donated a 50" square "star quilt" to be auctioned at their fundraising
dinner on 19th September.
~*~*~*~In September the
Casey & District Multiple Birth Assoc held a fundraiser to raise money
for one of their members who is fighting Ovarian cancer. Fernview Cottage
donated a 55" square "star quilt" to be auctioned at their fundraising
dinner on 11th September
~*~*~*~I have also been
involved with a group called Quilts for Orphans (QFO) that are based in
Monbulk. Their goal is to make 2,000 quilts for orphans in India. I
started by offering to quilt for free 6 of their quilts and have now
continued involvement, they have monthly get togethers, working beas to
piece quilts and lots of fun in the process.

2004-2007Fernview Cottage
co-ordinated a quilt drive for tiny quilts to be given to the Royal
Children's Hospital in Melbourne.
The hospital uses these quilts to
brighten up the neo natal unit, the quilts are put on top of the
humidicribs to stop the glare of the lights. The parents are then able to
take the quilts home when their baby leaves hospital.
Fernview
Cottage donated the batting, backing as well as quilted the tiny quilt
tops that were received.
All tiny quilts are greatly
appreciated.
The following are photos of quilts that have
already been quilted ready for delivery to the hospital. Thank you to the
following ladies who have donated these lovely quilts: Lynette B
(Braybrook Aust), Kaycee, Txmogga (Texas U.S.A.)
